On Saturday 2 May 2020, we launched our research report Creative and Cultural Industries in Sri Lanka with a webinar bringing in speakers from the UK and Sri Lanka.

We have produced this video in response to many requests. We hope you enjoy watching the unfolding discussion and that you also access and read the report and most importantly engage in the ensuing actions so that the Sri Lankan creative economy gets the recognition it richly deserves.

With thanks to contributors John Newbigin, Linda Speldewinde, Selyna Pieris, Annemari de Silva, Anushka Wijesinha, and to Dilani Hirimuthugodage and the research team at IPS.

About the Report

This report is a baseline study into the current state of the cultural and creative industries of Sri Lanka.

It is a first attempt at creating a framework to consider industries with a strong ‘creative’ element in their work and developing an understanding of their current situation and major challenges. These industries are of growing global significance, and so this report goes on to provide recommendations to address some urgent subsector challenges, as well as providing cross-cutting recommendations for growth of the sector as a whole.
