October 2026 – January 2027 Volunteer Programme
Give your passion for books a purpose – become a British Council Library Volunteer for four months!
The British Council Library, one of Colombo's busiest and most vibrant libraries, is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our library services and engage with our growing community of members.
As a Library Volunteer, you should be:
- Committed to a regular weekly schedule.
- Available to volunteer for a minimum of 6 hours per week.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Passionate about working with people and books.
- Interested in supporting library programmes, services, and the preparation of library materials to ensure they are accessible to all.

Please complete and return your application, addressed to the Library & Information Services Manager, on or before 30 September 2026.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview during the first week of October 2026, where we will discuss how your skills and interests align with the available volunteer opportunities.
Please note: This volunteer programme is open exclusively to current British Council Library members.
