Deshaka Rukshan is a Sri Lankan singer-songwriter, guitarist, composer, and musician exploring a deeply personal sound shaped by songwriting, improvisation, and experimentation. His music draws from emotion, nature, personal experiences, and the world around him, constantly evolving through curiosity and a desire to discover new ways of expression.
Alongside his solo work, Deshaka leads Chiththa, a band project formed with members of the Musicmatters Collective — Pasindu Devinda on saxophone and keys, Uvindu Perera on double bass, and Sumudi Suraweera on drums.
Chiththa explores the inner and outer realities of contemporary life — mental stress, inner thoughts, complex social issues, and shared dreams. Rather than being built around a fixed musical formula, the band's sound emerged organically from the collective process of simply sitting together, listening deeply, and creating without boundaries.
At its core, Chiththa is a space for connection, experimentation, and honest expression — where individual voices come together to create something that could only exist as a collective.
