Transferring your test date

Deadline for Submission – No Later than 5 Days from LRW Exams (Listening/Reading/Writing)

E.g. LRW Test Date – 10 Jul. / Deadline – 15 Jul.

Admin Fee – Rs. 15,000/- (Non refundable and subject to change)

Note: If Exam Fee has been increased since your registration and/or requesting for Mode Change (IELTS on Computer to IELTS on Paper), fee difference would need to be paid.

How to Pay – Using "Online Bank Transfer" to our account.

Note: We accept ONLY Online Bank/Payment Transfers or Over the Counter Payments at Banks. EasyPay/ATM/CDM Machine Payments NOT Accepted.

How to Apply

Step 1 – Make the Payment.

Step 2 – Email the “Required Documents” to LK-bankdeposits@britishcouncil.lk before the deadline with the subject line "IELTS Transfer - Passport Number".

Note the “Reference Number” received in the automated reply.

Step 3 – Fill this “Online Form” before the deadline.

We will update you within 5 days of submission.

Please ensure the above steps are duly followed and the form is accurately filled. Late, Incomplete and/or Inaccurate responses will be rejected.

Important: 

  • British Council reserves the right to seek "Supporting Documentary Evidence" to process your request, where applicable. 
  • New Test Date should be at least 10 Days after Form Submission and within 3 Months of Original Test Date.
  • Test Dates are subjected to availability and will only be confirmed upon receipt of the duly completed form, passport copy and payment. If any of your selection is unavailable, we will be in touch to discuss the next available options.
  • If you have completed at least one component of the registered test, no refunds will be given. However, you may apply for a test date transfer following the steps given above. We would check and update you on the possibility and options.
  • We will only consider the first response. Hence, do not submit this form multiple times. 
  • Acceptance or Rejection will be at the sole discretion of British Council and/or Exam Board. We will notify you within 5 days from submission.


 Cancelling your IELTS test

Special circumstances under which you can apply for a refund:

  • serious illness or medical incident (such as hospital admission or a major injury)
  • bereavement - loss of a close family member
  • hardship or trauma (such as being a victim of crime or involved in a traffic accident)
  • military service

 Important information to know before submitting your cancellation request:

  • Cancellation after the test date - If a medical certificate confirming illness on the date of the test is provided within five working days of the test date, together with the submitted cancellation request on the Test Taker Portal, the fee is refundable.
  • Only medical certificates in English are accepted. If we have not received your submitted cancellation request along with an upload of supporting documentation/evidence on the Test Taker Portal by the fifth working day after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims.
  • Please note that we do not accept sick notes issued by family members.
  • Please read our IELTS refund and transfer policy available in the ‘Downloads’ section of this page before submitting your cancellation request.
  • Requests submitted through telephone, email or over the counter are not accepted. 
  • Late or incomplete requests will not be accepted.
  • Refund/cancellation requests are subject to approval. You will receive a confirmation of the acceptance/rejection of your request within a week of submitting your request.

Step 2 – View your test booking under upcoming tests
Step 3 – Request for cancellation
Step 4 – Submit accurate information and upload the required supporting documentation/evidence
Step 5 – Add your bank details if you had paid offline and submit your cancellation request
