We invite everyone to a special panel discussion, with British Council Youth Programme Alumni.  This virtual event is completely free and exclusively for individuals who are interested in climate related global issues, environmentalists, and professionals from the field of environment. 

Join us for an informative session as we discuss topics around environment. Don’t miss out on this enriching experience!

What to Expect:

  • Global Connections: Interact with Youth Climate Ambassadors and environment leads in other countries. These youth have consistently been at the forefront of climate activism, from grassroots movements to global campaigns, raising awareness about the urgent need for action to combat impacts of climate change.
  • Discussion Theme: This session will be about the key outcomes of COP 29 and how it emphasised the crucial role of young people in the decision-making processes. The session will showcase the perspectives, ideas of young people advocating for stronger policies and pushing for ambitious commitments from all stakeholders.
  • More than a panel discussion: After listening to their conversations, enjoy sharing your stories and raise your concerns.
  • Expert Moderation: The session consists of a Moderator and three (03) Panellists who are from British Council Youth Alumni, ensuring engaging and insightful dialogue.

Do I need to prepare for the session? 

No preparation is needed – the discussion will revolve around environment related topics shared during the session.

Given below are the three Panellists and the Moderator who will be joining us at the Panel discussion.

Sajini Wickramasinghe

Is an Attorney-at-Law, Legal Reasearch Analyst at Verite Research, Climate Vulnerable Forum Youth Fellow 2024, British Council Youth Climate Ambassador, and the Co-Lead of the National Front of World's Youth for Climate Justice Sri Lanka. 

Sudarsha De Silva

Sudarsha De Silva is the co-founder of the EarthLanka Youth Network and has expertise in journalism, research, policy engagement, youth leadership mentoring, and advocacy on climate action and conservation.

He holds a master’s degree in development practice from the University of Peradeniya, Department of Economics and Statistics.  He has held several local and international portfolios on climate action since 2009. 

Kabilan Suntharamoorthy

Senior Lecturer in Planning, Community and Regional Planning, University of Jaffna. He is also an environmental conservation activist and social services professional.

Ashra Wickramathilaka

Is an urban planner, researcher, and critical cartographer specializing in community-driven solutions to address climate change. With over seven years of experience, her expertise spans disaster risk resilience and the application of spatial technologies to foster sustainable development.

A passionate advocate for inclusive city planning, Ashra prioritizes empowering underserved urban communities, integrating their voices into decision-making processes.
