The majority of results will be released four weeks after the date of the written exam. Any remaining results will be released during the following two weeks. Please note that there are no result sheets for the Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) and Cambridge English: Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT).

Individual candidates

Candidates now have direct access to their results via the Cambridge Assessment English Online Results Service. Each candidate's personal timetable will include login details. If you have logged into the website using your details you will receive an email notification when the results release period has begun. Please note that candidates must keep their timetables until they have received their results.

If you have lost your Confirmation of Entry, you must contact your exam centre in Colombo or Kandy or email info.lk@britishcouncil.org. Your must include your name, candidate number, name of examination and written examination date in your email to us.

English Language Preparation Centres

Preparation Centres that register candidates for Cambridge Assessment English examinations will be able to access their students' results and Statement of Results directly on the Cambridge Assessment English site for Preparation Centres. Following registration, you will receive an email with login details. Please note that candidates who have registered through a centre can sign up to the Online Results Service.

Certificates

If you have passed your exam, your certificate will be sent to you in approximately six weeks after your results are released. If you registered through a Language Centre, your certificate will be sent to your school. If you registered as an individual candidate, your certificate will be sent to your postal address via courier.

Young Learners

You will receive an award (certificate) from Cambridge Assessment English, showing your performance in each part of the test – Listening, Reading and Writing and Speaking.

For each part of the test you get one or more Cambridge shields (up to a maximum of five) so you could get a total of 15 shields for the whole test!

Young Learner results are issued approximately six weeks after the date of your examination. Everyone who completes their test receives an award, which focuses on what they could do (not what they couldn’t do). It gives them credit for having taken part in the test.

Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT)

You will receive a certificate for each module taken. There is no pass/fail.

Your results are reported in four bands. The band descriptor will help you understand the bands.

TKT results are issued to centres approximately five weeks after the exam.

Extended certification

From March 2011 Cambridge English has introduced Extended Certification, which is aimed at giving many candidates additional credit for the language skills they have demonstrated in a Cambridge English examination. It also aims to help universities, employers and other organisations get a clearer picture of how candidates' results relate to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

Results enquiries

If you feel that your exam was unfairly marked, Cambridge English has a rigorous and thorough Result Enquiry Procedure to ensure all components are checked and, if requested, re-marked. If you want to query your result, this must be submitted through the British Council on your behalf.

Results Enquiry Procedure has two stages:

Stage What is the enquiry process? How long does it take? What does it cost?
Stage 1 A full clerical re-check Within five working days of receiving the request Refer to Results Enquiry Procedure
Stage 2 A re-mark of written papers (including review of the Listening paper where relevant, but does not apply to any Speaking test component) The outcome of the enquiry will be sent within three weeks (all requests for Stage 2 will be acknowledged by return post)*

Refer to Results Enquiry Procedure

* To request a Stage 2 enquiry, a candidate must have received their results and completed Stage 1 of the Results Enquiry Process.

If a candidate has already received a certificate but wishes to request Stage 2, the certificate must be returned to Cambridge English. Requests will not be processed until this has been received.
