‘Sneham’ by Sithaakaash Dance Company (Curated by Musicmatters)
We know you enjoyed the ‘Manthrayana’ music event curated by Musicmatters in May.
This month, come experience ‘Sneham’ by Sithaakaash Dance Company, the featured artists at the next Musicmatters curated event on Sunday, 14 June, 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. at our Colombo library.
Sneham is a thematic exploration of love in its many forms and emotional dimensions. Through Bharatanatyam, the production reflects on love not merely as an emotion, but as a universal force that connects human beings with nature, relationships, and the divine.
The performance journeys through varied expressions of love. The love for the earth and living world, the tender bond between mother and child, the emotional connection between lovers, and the spiritual experience of divine love. Each segment unfolds through expressive abhinaya, movement, rhythm, and visual storytelling, revealing the depth and universality of love.
The musical inspiration for Sneham is drawn from the soulful album songs and renditions of Bombay Jayashree, whose voice carries an intimate emotional quality that deeply resonates with the essence of the production.
The production begins and concludes with traditional Bharatanatyam pieces, creating a classical frame that honours the tradition while embracing contemporary thematic exploration.
Through Sneham, Sithaakaash Dance Company celebrates love as a timeless and universal human experience.
It all happens here! We look forward to seeing you!
