Case Studies – Youth Action in Motion

Eco-Bricks for Livelihoods

A group of ambassadors in Galle launched a project turning plastic waste into eco-bricks. These bricks are sold to local builders, creating affordable housing solutions while generating income for women-led cooperatives.

Solar Skills for Rural Youth

Ambassadors in Anuradhapura partnered with vocational institutes to train rural youth in solar panel installation. The initiative not only reduces reliance on fossil fuels but also opens pathways to stable green jobs.

Mangrove Restoration Enterprise

In Batticaloa, ambassadors led a mangrove restoration project that doubles as a community eco-tourism enterprise. Visitors pay to join planting sessions, funding conservation while boosting local livelihoods.

Why It Matters

Sri Lanka is on the frontline of climate change — facing rising seas, extreme weather, and biodiversity loss. The Youth Climate Ambassadors programme ensures that young voices are heard, solutions are inclusive, and action is sustainable. By linking climate action with economic empowerment, we help communities thrive while protecting the planet.
