Across Sri Lanka, young people are taking action on the issues that matter most to their communities, from protecting coastlines and restoring ecosystems to promoting sustainable livelihoods and green innovation.
The Youth Climate Ambassadors (YCA) programme supports these young leaders with training, mentoring and opportunities to design and deliver solutions to environmental challenges in their communities while engaging in wider climate conversations and networks to turn ideas into action, connect with experts and peers, and help build a greener, fairer future.

What Ambassadors Gain
As a Youth Climate Ambassador, young people develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to lead climate action in their communities. They strengthen their leadership, communication and advocacy skills while gaining practical experience in designing and delivering climate projects. They also benefit from access to national and international networks, opportunities to engage with decision-makers, and exposure to innovative approaches to climate action, green entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.
What Communities Gain
Through the Youth Climate Ambassadors programme, communities benefit from locally led climate solutions that respond to real environmental challenges. The programme helps raise awareness of climate issues, promotes positive environmental action, supports the development of green skills and economic opportunities, and strengthens local partnerships and community resilience to climate change.
