Dr Palfreyman is a public health researcher and activist with a multidisciplinary background in sexual and reproductive health and rights, violence and global mental health. She argues that a continuation of the current approach to suicide prevention is not only insufficient but potentially detrimental to the project of reducing risk and social suffering for Sri Lankan women and girls. Her research confronts the myth of impulsivity which commonly defines self-harm and suicide in women and girls.
