Lal Medawattegedara
Lal Medawattegedara teaches English Literature and Creative Writing at the Open University of Sri Lanka. He has been working as a creative writing resource person for the British Council since 2003. He has published two collections of short stories: The Window Cleaner’s Soul (short-listed: 2002 Gratiaen Prize) & Can you hear me running (Zeus Publications: 2007). His creative writing has been featured on BBC Radio 4 & BBC World Service and in The Times of India, The Khaleej Times, The Himal Journal, The City Creative Writing Journal. Playing Pillow Politics at MGK, his first novel, won the Gratiaen Prize in 2012. This novel is currently being translated into Sinhala and will be made into a movie, shortly.
