Playwrights write language that is seen; that is absorbed not only visually and aurally, but also viscerally. This workshop is designed for playwrights looking to hone skills and develop the vocabulary needed to generate writing for performance.

The workshop offered in three sessions (one optional) will reflect on playwriting vocabulary, dramatic structure, creating characters and writing a dramatic scene for the stage. There will also be some amount of time provided between sessions for generating writing for performance. Through a series of exercises and discussions, participants will experience and explore methods, techniques and tools designed for the practice of dramatic writing. At the end of the workshop, participants would have developed one monologue for performance and one duologue based on their own experience and interactions with the world around them.
