We’re bringing award-winning novelist Capt. Elmo Jayawardena over to the British Council for a very special book reading of his brand new title, “Kakiyan” followed by a Q & A session.

Simply put, it’s a book about crows. The narrator, Kakiyan, is the son of Alice and Stanley Crow and brother to Lucille and Rodney. They live in a Jacaranda tree and fly about living a carefree life. Join us as more of Kakiyan’s adventures come to life at this very exclusive session of book reading.

For ages:           18 years and above

Capt. Elmo Jayawardena

Capt. Elmo Jayawardena is more known for his award-winning novel, Sam’s Story, which deals with social conflicts. The Last Kingdom of Sinhalay earned him the State Literary Award as well as the Gratiaen Prize. The rest of his books bring us to various strata of social conflicts. An airline pilot for 40 years, Elmo has also won the prestigious “Sahityaratana Award in Sri Lanka for his writing. He is also the founder of CandleAid Lanka a humanitarian organization.
