Checking your English Level
You need to do a level check before you register. This test will place you in the correct class for your level. To book a test please call us on 011-7521521. You can also come in and visit us to book your level check.
You need to bring the following with you:
- Adults – NIC/Passport and Rs. 1,000 (non-refundable)
- Young Learners – Birth Certificate and Rs. 1,000 (non-refundable)
Level checks are held two to three weeks before term starts. Call us to find out when our next level check session is being held.
Buying your Course Book
Once you have registered for your course you will need to purchase the required book. You can do this at the British Council Jaffna.
Your Classmates and Teacher
There will be a maximum of 20 students in your class and your teacher will be a UK qualified professional.
We have a diverse teaching staff which reflects the fact that English is an international language and the UK is a diverse, multi-cultural society; all our teachers are UK qualified which is reflected in the high teaching quality and effectiveness of learning. Our teaching material is from the UK which gives added cultural context to the learning.
Access to Library Services
We know how important it is to use English as much as possible when you are learning. So we provide all students with free membership to our reference library which contains study materials appropriate for your level.
You may decide to join our main library which has over 3,000 Books, DVDs, periodicals and newspapers. You may participate in storytelling sessions, study skills workshops and our speaking club. Please visit our branch for more information about our library services.
