Platform for skills and training
Another key aspect of this summit is developing skills for employability. We will also use this platform to identify and improve skills for employability by partnering with the industry sector and the professional bodies in both Sri Lanka and the UK.
Starting from a psychometric testing, we will be focusing on:
- Developing soft skills, analysing and problem solving skills, team working and interpersonal skills - Soft skills are becoming increasingly important in the workplace. Workshops will be conducted by leading industry experts and representatives from UK universities for participants to understand that their communication skills, time management skills, their ability to get along with others and attitude is now as important as their technical capabilities. Workshops will also be conducted on tips for CV writing and how to face an interview.
- Providing career guidance - Workshops will be held to enlighten participants on how to reflect on their interests, qualifications and ambitions. These forums will be conducted to help them plan and make important decisions about their careers.
- Leadership skills – Workshops will be held to prepare participants with the skills and strategies to become successful leaders. They will be able to distinguish between managing and leading which will help them assess their own leadership skills and understand how to bring out the best in an individual.
