International Women's Day 2018

March 8th is the International Women's Day. As part of the celebrations we are organising a variety of activities here in Sri Lanka and in the UK. Please find below the list of scheduled activities:

Women of the Arts | 7 and 17 March 2018

Calling out all talented women involved in Colombo’s evolving arts to showcase their talents in music, poetry, art or inspire everyone with their success story.

Suffragette | 8 March 2018

A screening of the movie Suffragette which tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.

Wonder Woman | 10 March 2018

Screening of the movie 'Wonder Woman (2017)' at the Orion City Library.

#HeforShe Arts Week | 8 - 15 March 2018

In the context of International Women’s Day (March 8), the British Council, in partnership with UN Women, joins the efforts of the #HeForShe campaign through an Arts focus, by mainstreaming the work we do with a diversity of female artists from different disciplines from each region.

A ‘Creating Heroines’ panel discussion will also take place and be live streamed through the network. For more info visit www.heforsheartsweek.org
