Here's an exciting day for you and your child with inspiring educational activities, workshop, demonstration sessions and games.

Note: Kids aged 7 and below need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times

Parental Workshops

Early Years (4-6 years) A session on phonics and understanding language through play. Suitable for Early years parents.
  • 11.00 a.m. - 11.45 a.m.
  • 12.45 p.m. - 1.30 p.m.
Primary (6-10 years) A session on how to increase your child’s attention span, that would also cover helping with reading at home. Suitable for Primary Young learner parents.
  • 8.45 a.m. - 9.30 a.m.
  • 9.45 a.m. - 10.30 a.m.
Lower/Middle Secondary (10-16 years)

One of our teachers will share with you what happens in the classroom, how our teachers use the coursebook and answer any questions you might have about our lower and middle secondary courses.

This is a session designed for parents who have a child registered on a lower or middle secondary course, but everyone is welcome. 

  • 11.00 a.m. - 11.45 a.m.
  • 12.45 p.m. - 1.30 p.m.
Upper Secondary (16-17 years)

Come and meet one of our teachers and find out about the projects and materials our upper secondary students use and what comes next in their language learning path.

There will also be time for you to ask our teens-expert any questions.

This is a session designed for parents who have a child registered on an upper secondary course but everyone is welcome.

  • 9.45 a.m. - 10.30 a.m.

Class Demonstrations

A demo-lesson of our very popular products will be led by experienced practitioners. Parents are very welcome to join in or just observe the demonstration.

Storytelling sessions

Storytelling sessions will be led throughout the day to inspire children’s imaginations. Puppets and engaging storytellers form our own British Council staff will take children into another world of fantasy and adventure. 

Two concurrent sessions will take place for each time slot.

  • 9.45 a.m. - 10.30 a.m.
  • 11.00 a.m. - 11.45 a.m.
  • 12.45 p.m. - 1.30 p.m.

Games and Activities

At the British Council, we believe we learn better when we have fun. Come and try the fun activities we run in our secondary classes.

Arts and Craft

Arts and crafts will be led by a British Council, qualified teacher with an expertise in arts and craft, to develop the language of science and technology for Primary Young Learner students. All materials will be provided.

Internet Safety sessions

Practical tips for keeping your child safe online. These sessions will be conducted as a result of our child protection initiatives.

Yoga with Kids

The opportunity for your kids to learn English through physical activity. Whether it be the ‘tree’ pose or the ‘lion’, your child can also learn about breathing techniques to help them with the pressures of life and have the opportunity to be more self-aware and disciplined.

Session on Special Educational Needs

The British Council is an inclusive organisation and this workshop is an opportunity to see how we create a supportive, inclusive environment in the classroom and also how we can learn from you as a parent of a child and/or an adult with Special Educational Needs.

Drawing words exhibition

The British Council will be hosting Drawing Words; an exhibition featuring ten illustrators to bring popular children’s books to life. By visiting our open day, you could also drop-in to our library to take a look at this amazing collection.
