Edwina graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1978 with a BA Honours in English. She has worked exclusively in the field of English Language teaching at universities and for both private and state enterprises. She has extensive experience in General English as well as English for Specific Purposes and English for Academic Purposes.

Before leaving Saudi Arabia in June 2014 where she worked for 4 years, Edwina taught in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Greece and Italy. While living in Italy, Edwina worked closely with the Local Education Authority and The Chamber of Commerce, delivering courses and workshops at schools, vocational training institutes and local and national enterprises. She also ran training courses for Italian State school teachers and conducted CLIL training before her departure for the Middle East. She ran the English Film Club for 3 years and was involved in the pilot scheme for the local government Copernicus  blended and online English language learning system.   She was also a member of the English Language Jury for the annual Excellence in English competition for Tyrol (South Tyrol, Italy and North Tyrol, Austria).She joined the British Council Colombo in July 2017.

Edwina’s interests include travelling, reading, cinema, swimming and skiing and, after 4 years as a frequent tourist to Sri Lanka, discovering life as a resident on the island.
