These courses are offered at the following levels: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-intermediate, Pre-advanced and Advanced.

If you are new to the British Council, you will need to take a level check to find out which level is right for you. Book a level check by calling or by visiting one of our English language centres.

We measure your progress using continuous assessment. We look at your work done over during the course, both writing and speaking, as well as your participation and involvement. You will get individual advice from your teacher. We do this to help you understand what your strengths are and where there is room for improvement. We also measure your progress to see if you are ready to move up to the next English level.

You must attend your course regularly. If you miss more than 30% of the course you may need to repeat the level and will not get a course certificate.
