Now an established date in the international literary calendar, the Galle Literary Festival continues to evolve and explore new and internationally acclaimed writers from across the world since its inception in 2007. The festival takes place in and around the World Heritage Site of Galle Fort in March each year.
The British Council supports UK writers and poets to attend the festival to perform readings, conduct workshops and take part in panel discussions to bring the best of contemporary British writing to audiences around the country, such as:
Michael Morpugo, Roger McGough, Daljit Nagra, Jill Dawson, Kiran Desai, Sophie Hannah, Louise Dean, Susan Elderkin, DJ Taylor, Roshi Fernando and Romesh Gunasekera.
