About this course
Our General English courses (of 50 hours) are designed to improve your English communication skills for study, work and daily use across the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. We also focus on the grammar and vocabulary skills you need to communicate effectively in a range of social, academic and professional environments.

THE RIGHT LEVEL FOR YOU
These courses are offered at the following levels: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-intermediate, Pre-advanced and Advanced.
If you are new to the British Council, you will need to take a placement test to find out which level is right for you. Book a test by calling or by visiting one of our English language centres.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
During the course the teacher will review your work, including your writing,speaking, participation and involvement in lessons. The teacher will then be able to give you guidance and feedback on your performance, so you can develop your skills and become confident when communicating in English.
We also measure your progress to see if you are ready to move up to the next General English level.
You must attend your course regularly, if you miss more than 30% of the course you may need to repeat the level and will not receive a course certificate.
